Re: All Madden 11 Playbooks Here

Thanks for posting this bro. I got a preview of the panthers offense playbook. Very nice. But the only thing is I wish they would make the palybooks more deeper with more plays. I know real NFL teams have tons more plays then this. Then this is where it would be nice if they add create a play in madden for. But these playbooks will do for now I guess. Thanks again for posting it bro.

Re: All Madden 11 Playbooks Here

I don't understand why there isn't a single split back formation for the West Coast offense, or why there are so many shotgun formations. The west coast offense is not about short routes, it's about timing between the qb drop and receiver breaks, according to this article anyway.

http://assets.espn.go.com/nfl/s/westcoast/history.html

Steve Young says, " The traditional passing game, which NFL teams ran for years, is based on deep drops, quarterbacks bouncing and waiting for receivers to come open, one-on-one matchups and throwing the ball downfield.

In contrast, the West Coast offense as it originated with Bill Walsh is any play or set of plays that tie the quarterback's feet to the receiver's route so there is a sense of timing."

And of course, the shotgun formation kind of puts a damper on that vary timing (which is part of why teams that ran the offense didn't have shotgun formations until recently) Makes no sense to me, but then hopefully they have placed all that time and effort into getting the various team playbooks right.

I also wonder about Martz' offense. I hope they allow for enough shifts to duplicate at least part of what his offenses do.

I remember Ian once cited an observation from John Madden, that the NFL is now becoming a shotgun league... not having split back is weird tho

Re: All Madden 11 Playbooks Here

Appreciate the post/find...to echo another poster I really wish the Playbooks were deeper. The reason their online reports show low multiple play use is because "cheesers" only use a handful of plays. Sigh....

That may be, but before he died Bill Walsh talked about how the spread was the antithesis of the west coast offense, and that to run the offense keeping a TE on the field, and the QB under center was a very big part of the offense. And since we're talking about the west coast offense, rather than NFL offenses in general, I'd believe that Walsh's comments warrant consideration to anyone who is seriously interested in the NFL.

As it pertains to playing the game, players could always use the patriots or colts playbook if they want the more spread attack, but what about players who want to use a more traditional west coast attack?
