Inactive players in franchise.....again this year, HELP!
Dear fellow Madden gamers,
I have encountered a situation that I am unable to resolve or figure out. The same thing happened in Madden 10, it's now happening in Madden 11.
My 89 ovr, QB Colt McCoy went inactive after my off season re-signing period. He stayed that way through the preseason and into the regular season. There was no notification to me, there is no indication on his player card, he's not on the injury report, he is clearly on my roster though?
It also happened to my 91 ovr LG. I was confused as to how they weren't playing in the first game of the season, then I went to my roster breakdown and saw that under QB & LG, I have inactive players. Is there any way to find out why, any way to make them active?? I've tried everything I can possibly think of to get them active but I cannot figure it out.
I signed them both to long term, huge contracts thinking they were holding out but nope they stayed inactive. I can cut them and then re-sign them and everything is normal again. But, I incur huge cap penalties when that is done. I can trade them to another team and they are active for that team and playing, so they aren't injured.
Has EA ever addressed this issue? THere must be others experiencing this, this is the 2nd year in a row my Madden game has done it.
Other details just in case they somehow matter;
This is franchise mode on the PS3, custom sliders, season 6. I only simulate the pre-season games, otherwise I play every game with my team and simulate the other CPU games. During the pre-season, I moved my top players to 3rd string to try and protect them from injury during the simulated pre-season games. I did this for about 5 players and all the other ones are active and playing. I moved all these players back into their starting spots prior to game 1 of the regular season. They are still listed as 1st string on my depth chart, show up on the depth chart during game action, appears to be nothing wrong with them.

I've had a similar situation happen. Except with me I had started a bunch of players I had drafted over the first 3 years (simmed to get to the point where all starters were people I had drafted and signed no FAs other then an occasional back up OL and DB). Well starting year 4 my inactives were my starting LT, my starting TE, my #1 WR, my starting QB, and my starting C. Oh and my starting ROLB and starting SS. Thankfully I won the first game bc my back up QB basically ran for his life and escaped and my RB/
PR returned to punts for scores. My roster had no real depth, so the OL is HORRIBLE without the starters.
