I can tell you why......ONLINE PLAY. Nowadays online play is the number one feature developers focus on across the board. Everything else comes second. Honestly I haven't completed a Madden franchise since 2004. Why ? It gets boring.
Nothing over the years have jumped out at me when it came to franchise mode to make want to play it for a whole season. So really I hope they completely tear out franchise mode and start from scratch from the ground up.
Online play unfortunately is where the money is for game developers. I can't count the number of times when people buy a game the 1st thing they do is play online. For a lot of people, online is the ONLY mode people play.
I know about a dozen or so people that have yet to beat the story mode for Modernwarfare 2 or Battlefield Bad Company 2 because they play online mode ONLY. And I am willing to bet $1,000 that when Halo Reach come out, online mode is going to be the 1st thing people go to.
