In the NFL you weren't allowed to defer until 2 years ago. That's why every team that won the coin toss always received

They do it online because there is no defense, so all they have to is stop your 1st possession and the game is over.

I like to receive because it puts my opponent in catch up mode the rest of the game.

And to those whining about the defense... please, I've played about ~20 online games, and there are numerous stops and turnovers. The games are high scoring, but to say that neither team can stop the other is exaggerating.

I always receive if I'm on the road; kick if I'm at home.

I do it for clock reasons. I have faith in my defense to hold my opponent to at least 3 and I always try to double up possessions at the end of the half and beginning of the second half. I have a reputation among the people I play with for coming back and winning games, and I do that mostly because of getting 14 straight points. It's like getting a turnover.

personally I choose to defend first with the wind..

if you give the enemy the wind in the 1st qtr, then in the 4th qtr they will have to pass against the wind

he was explaining some of the methods they used in the meadowlands back in the day.. the wind tunnels and all of that, haha teams who visited didn't know about field position and basically were passing against the wind during the 4th qtr
