Re: You proved me wrong EA

I am torn on this subject.

This is the best Madden imo ever. I love the game, I really do, But...

I think NCAA is a better football game. The leap this development team made is simply amazing actually. I give them a huge Kudos.

I just cant give the same credit to the Madden team.

If you look at it tho, Madden made a huge leap last year. A lot of the improvement was made to the NCAA series. They also added the thing Madden added this year as well. Madden added some 'none gameplay' elements in gameflow and gameplanning so they didn't improve on the field as much as the previous year. IMO they are close, NCAA has a bigger leap to make just to be on Madden's level b/c of Madden 10.

But, they have everything NCAA has, we just experienced NCAA first so it kinda made our expectations for Madden rise...so eventhough the two are close in gameplay and improvements (minus the early defense snafu on Madden) the fact that NCAA came first makes ppl kinda partial to it and a bit disappointed in Madden.

Re: You proved me wrong EA

Good posts, seems like everyone has mixed feelings on this years Madden...

Let me re-iterate again that I am an ONLINE gamer, so my original thread was my feelings on the online play. I know Madden has it's faults. The franchise is stale and from what I hear there's other little problems like Gameplanning (again, doesn't apply to me because I play online). But if you set all your prejudices aside and play an online game of Madden and really take it in for what it is, you'll see just how fantastic of a football game it is. They nailed everything from players getting off the buses before the game, cutscenes of the players getting fired up before the game, people tailgating before the game, the gang tackling, the effects of the weather (players fall down while making cuts when it's snowing), the free motion you have while running, etc. I mean EVERYTHING you could ask for in a football game is there now that they've fixed the defense.

For the people upset about the game not being perfect right out of the box, let me just say I'm with you on that one. It makes me angry that we have to wait a month or two for the game to play like it SHOULD play. But at the same time we should look at this as somewhat of a positive. At least now with the next-gen systems we have the chance to actually get patches that make the game better. On previous generation systems what you had was what you got. However it was out of the box is how it would stay. While it may be frustrating to wait a little while for the game to play like it should, we should be counting our blessing that we have patches at all. Maybe in future years we just need to wait a little bit after Madden releases then buy it used, that way you're getting what you want right away.

And as far as the people who are just disgusted with Madden all together, the only thing I would say to that is TOUGH. We have no other options right now. My advice would be to take Madden for what it is. Try to get rid of whatever biases or prejudices you have and just enjoy playing Madden for the game that it is. If you do that I'm pretty sure you'll have a satisfying football game experience.

Remember, I'm saying all of this after DESTROYING Madden and it's development team for months. If I can feel satisfied playing this game, I think you can too

Thanks again EA

Re: You proved me wrong EA

I would have to agree that overall EA Sports does deserve some credit for the improvements they've been making with their games the last few years.

FIFA and NHL have been getting nicely praised by the dedicated sports gamers. NCAA after several years of being considered by many as Madden's redheaded stepbrother has apparently made great strides this year. And it at least seems as though Madden the last two years, has more Madden gamers a bit more satisfied with the game. At least it seems that way to me.

Imo....with this current gen of Madden from '06' to '09', it was really just spinning it's wheels and going no where fast. But in the last two years I believe the effort is at least there to try to truly improve. Like a lot of others, I also think Madden is lagging behind other sports games even in it's own stable of games. The wait for Madden to catch up has been kinda painful and frustrating. But I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Because without CPU GamePlanning, this game just doesn't quite do it for me and I'm sure that sentiment is shared by others as well.

If you don't care about GamePlanning (and hence any semblance of realistic sim play calling and football against the CPU) then I'm sure this game is great for you. There is a lot to like despite the flaws.

If you care about GamePlanning then this game is crippled right now.

Go over to the gameplanning sub forum. There is a temporary fix you can do to at least get the CPU to use your custom gameplans for them. To me that is all that matters. I don't need to use a gameplan for my team. I know the entire playbook inside and out and call all my own plays. It is the CPU that I want to control in it's logic of playcalling and you still can.

I know they need to fix it with a tuner update or patch but at least you can still use all the CPu gameplans by just doing a simple controller change before the opening kickoff.

Back to the OP's subject. Offline I love the game. Online there are still things that need to be tweaked. But I only play Online in franchise with my league and we are still having major DC issues which have not been addressed. I hope they fix the server issues for Online Franchise.

Dissapointing to say the least.
