Glad I don't play online... I'd get sick of purple real quick I think.

I question the move on the Vikings part. Moss isn't the cancer he used to be... the Pats had a good influence on him... but I'm of the opinion that the problem wasn't receivers, but the line. Favre has had very little protection this season.

tell me about it. I think Donny Agrees. I use custom sliders, but when I try to use the Vikings, I get so little time to throw it's ugly.

On the other hand, after week 2 there was a story on NFL network about how Favre was in practice and was playing in the secondary to show receivers what he was seeing and why they are bad and what they need to do to play better with him. It was interesting. They also won in Week 3. I am very interested in where all of this will lead. I still think Favre is underrated in the roster updates. I may have to bump him up for my new franchise modes before I start them.

I'll miss him, but Brady has been "missing him" as well, you know, with his passes. The lack of that deep threat hurts, and that was what made the 07 season so crazy. Brady + an amazing receiver = super season. However, after coming back from his injury last year, and so far this year, the Brady/Moss combo really isn't there. Not even a shadow of what 2007's combo once was.

Instead, I wish Favre and the Vikings the best. I am rooting for Favre to finally win his second ring and go out like a champion. What a magical season it could be with this slow start, to get Randy Moss and go all the way. Getting Rice back later in the year in time for the play offs is what could really put the Vikings over the top as long as they remain in the play off hunt.

Back to the Patriots; they still have Wes Welker, Wes Welker #2 in Julian Edelman, and Wes Welker #3 in little Danny Woodhead. Along with a pair of rookie Tight Ends who have been playing really well, I honestly do not see NE losing in this trade. The draft selection they received from Oakland last year for Seymore and they one or more they will get for Moss should make one heck of a draft this off-season and help NE continue to rebuild that defense in order to make another Super Bowl push before Tom gets too old and retires. I honestly like the moves the Patriots have been making and have no real reason to doubt Bill.

Finally, it'll be fun to see Moss back in purple. Likely back in his #84.
Honestly I don't see this as a positive for the Pats. Wes Welker is not a #1 and Edelman and Woodhead are you serious? You do have some great young TE's though.

Re: moss to vikings will be in this weeks roster update?

The funny thing is the last two Madden's I usually let Moss play out his deal till the end of 2010 then franchise & trade him to whoever has the best offer. One time after an 80+ catch season he got me a 1, 3 & 4.

As a pats fan I am really not sure about this trade & find myself questioning whether or not Bill knows what he's doing but if the reports about Moss acting like a tool are true then maybe it's not the worst thing to happen.

One name I haven't heard mentioned yet is the guy who will move into Moss' position, Brandon Tate. He won't command double coverages but the opposition will have to put someone on him. If he turns out to be a good receiver (not Moss level but good enough) then maybe he will see the occasional double team. Most of the time they can only double one or two guys & if they go towards Welker then there's guys like Edelman, Gronkowski, Hernandez even Crumpler & the massive unknown in rookie Taylor Price. The way I see it the Pats will go back to their 01-06 days where the offense isn't necessarily explosive but it's effective.
