Need help

So I was about to play a franchise game a few minutes ago, first game in the regular season after I simmed pre-season last night. So I hit start to and it asks to play or sim week, I hit play so I go to the screen for choosing sides. I'm on my side, I hit A to start the game, but it just keeps me at the screen saying please wait for game to start or whatever. So I just see for example "49ers vs Seahawks" on the screen with my controller on the 49ers side with A already hit and waiting but it wont start the game. Anyone know the problem?

Were you set to play an online game? Or your system just froze.

It was an offline franchise, and no my system did not freeze. the ticker was still moving at the bottom saying what was going on in the NFL, and the little thing under what says ready to play or whatever was moving below it. The time glass thing (Hour glass might be what I'm looking for?), I don't know what it's called but it was rotating so the system was not frozen. I went to the dashboard and tried to play 3 times, and it happened every time.
