Route based passing gone?

I hope I am overlooking it, but hitting the l2 on the ps2 version does not alow for route based passing. I will really be dissapointed if its gone. Someone pleas tell me the error of my ways.

Its done like NCAA now....using the Left analog stick. Good thing its not as exaggerated (you can atleast change the sensitivity of it.

I dunno, hopefully I'm referring to the same thing you are -- but Madden 03 was my first Madden, and it seemed the "route-based passing" didn't work. In 2004, it seems to work.

Like, in 2003, when I run a curl route to the sideline with Todd Pinkston, if I fired the pass as Pinkston cut back, then the pass seemed to lead him upfield. In the limited time I played last night with 2004, when I fired the pass as Pinkston cut, the ball was thrown to the SPOT just after Pinkston cut back -- I believe this is how route-based passing was supposed to work

ROUTE BASed passing is automatic in madden, as it is in NCAAA.. this is the first ncaa i play and i love the this...
the button that was used in madden 2003 (L2) is now used to bring down the passing icons and run with the Qb
