Do player ratings improve for the regular season if they have success in the preseason, or is this just wasted time playing these games?

Wasted in terms of progression of players...I wish it wasnt the case though. It would be nice to have position battles like on the old xbox and PC versions

Thanks for the feedback. What about game to game in-season? I use the Falcons, and if Matt Ryan has a 2-3 game streak of 300 yds and 2 tds, will his passing stats increase? Or will it just happen at the end of the season?

I've been playing Head Coach 09 alot, and it really makes franchise mode in Madden feel incomplete.

The only progression in franchise mode whatsoever is during the offseason. And even then the progression is inconsistent and unpredictable. Player A can throw for 4000yds and 30tds and get 3-5 progression whereas another player can do the same and get 8.

Just another thing the last gen games had. Preseason and in-season progression.

So preseason stats don't even impact the progression that happens in the offseason?
