I'm thinking about buying Madden 11 and I've read a lot about it and I have a question that may be kind of stupid. Is the new Gameflow feature optional? Can I turn Gameflow off and play the game like normal or is every game half the normal time, and the "coach" picks the play for me?

I am in the same boat as you, I just out of the blue got the NFL "Itch". I'm an NCAA guy almost exclusively. I bought Madden 2011 last night after getting Madden 2010 over Christmas for $9. People convinced me that Madden 2011 was better. Anyway, its on sale at Target for $39 this week so you really can't go wrong.

To answer your question, even if you have Gameflow on, you can pick your own play at any time.

Instead of pressing X/A to let GameFlow pick the play, hit Square/X (on PS3 and 360 respectively) to go to the play call screen.

Also, if you want to turn GameFlow OFF, simply go into your My Madden --> Game options --> and set Playcalling to Conventional.

For online play GameFlow is ON. But you bypass it with the same method above.
