Are there any tips before starting a franchise, I know there are a lot of guys that like the challenge of coach mode, I'm just looking for any pointers or glaring issues with using this mode, thanks

As far as sliders I used M2H and he suggests controlling all 32 teams so you can change the coaching tendencies. Read his post for the details in the slider menu.
