I play all of my games as the Bills, but even accounting for my two wins over the Patriots (1 in overtime!) they are still only 4-11 so far.

Injuries have hurt them it seems.

It's not perfect, but it seems like it makes sense for the most part. That said, even in real life "better teams on paper" don't always have the best records.

Just look at this season: San Diego and KC.

I just tested your theory because I myself always wondered that very thing.

I traded Manning, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Chris Johnson 99 rated O-Linemen, etc.. to Detroit and they proceded to go 4-12, 9-7, and 6-10.

So, there is hope that teams can get hot. Interestingly enough, the Broncos went 4-12 the year after they won it all. Super Bowl hangover, maybe? It'll be interesting to see if they rebound in my upcoming season or if their championship was just a fluke in the sim engine.

Onthe same note, it seems that simmed stats dont accurately reflect a teams record. For instance, a team can have a top ten raanked offense in terms of yards gained and a top ten defense, but still have a losing record and vice versa.
I love when two teams from the AFC West play in the Super Bowl...

I think he meant 4th and 5th year it was the Broncos and Raiders "respectively".

In the second year of my Raiders franchise NE played Detroit in the SB. On any given Sunday the game can simulate a win for a crappy team.

You are correct. I had the same exact thing happen to me in my 49ers franchise. After a good season, of not getting hurt, Stafford along with Suh and their HB J. Best all improved in their OVR rating quite a bit. With a free agent pickup and two nice rookies, the Lions were a competitive team. It didn't hurt that they had an easy post-season run against the rams and two other teams with injured stars.

Re: Talented players actually affecting teams in Franchise mode?

interesting, I've noticed in my franchise (year 7 now), when teams lose a key player they start to suck bad...if they happen to draft a good player at a certain position they often tend to do better...for instance, the redskins drafted some QB who is hella good and even with the mediocre WR they have they made the superbowl and almost won that year...Peyton manning retired and the colts immediately sucked. when brady got injured the Pats went on an 8 game losing skid and havent been good since.

on another note, I traded a 92ovr guard (he didnt want to re-sign with me and I tend to treat those players as hold outs and sign and trade them) to the broncos in week six one year and then they pulled themselves out of the basement (he made the pro-bowl too after not playing for me the first six games).

I'm going to send 92 ovr Matt Stafford to a sucky team soon and see what happens with that though...
