Yup my CAPs never retired either, but someone said that a certain age + NFL exp. did make them retire after the first season unfortunately I can't remember what those numbers were.

Giving them 99 AWR doesn't give you any boosts in my experience. If you want specific attribute boosts you need to jack up those attributes. I know a 99 gives you a +5, but I'm not sure what the scale is from their. For those guys I would think you'd want to increase QB stats like THA or THP

I read that if you create the player 1with 7 years of experience born in 1969 he will always retire after 1 year. I haven't tried that yet.

Yep it is. I created Jim Harbaugh and made him old as possible but he wouldn't retire so I went and re-downloaded the latest roster and turned Mark Brunell into Jim Harbaugh since Brunell always retires at the end of Year 1. I just boosted Brunell in QB AWR, THP, THA so Harbaugh gave the QB those boosts as Head Coach. It has worked ever since, the thing is though they become available after the second season so I kept Singletary for another year and in my 3rd year I was able to hire "Jim Harbaugh" as my new Head Coach.
