Icon3 Problem and solution- Batting down passes

For years batting down passes is something that you hardly ever see a user do. In my circle it's something that would be instantly replayed and praised. The button presses needed to pressure the QB seem to be to far away from the Triangle/Y button to jump for it to be used effectively.

My solution would be if you could press up on the right stick to bat down passes. This would only be used for the D-Line. There would be different animations used depending on if he was engaged or not.

This would allow a faster response time and it would give the defense another weapon. What do you think?

Thanks for reading.

I always use the triangle to jump for passes at the line. I think it just feels right cause it is what you use to try to intercept passes or catch on offense as well and I don't see a problem as it is.

Understood but the reaction time from pushing right or left on the stick, then letting go of the stick with your thumb, and then sliding up to the triangle/Y still seems unnatural to me. It's a split second but it still seems to me the stick would be more efficient.

I'd rather jump using the button I use for every other jump function... Especially considering that the "catch/jump" buttons specifically tells players to reach for the ball no matter what position they play...

That said, I see tons of passes batted down - But most of my passes are thrown between the numbers and within 7 yards of the LOS. Passing lanes become much more important in that style of game.
