The 2K sports Monopoly

After reading about the 1 year contract extension, an interesting thought popped into my head. What if 2K had bought the NFL license 5 years ago instead of EA? Would we all be here spitting on the 2K Sports brand because of the half-assed product that's essentially a yearly roster update? Or would we not care if it was the only NFL game because 2K would continue to improve/progress year after year on what was promised with 2K5, despite the lack of competition?

If they did not make a good game then they would get killed as well but 2K cannot afford the license for football becase EA would have topped them

Yes...because what I'm upset about (as are most here) is the lack of choice, not who got the exclusive license. I'm not sure how much clearer the point can be made: we want competing products. A rising tide lifts all ships and all that....

I always preferred the Madden series to the 2K one. I would most likely not have bought the 2K games even if they had bought the exclusive NFL license.

That being said, people will always find something to complain about in games no matter who the developer is.

Nah, I wouldn't be, 'cause this is the Madden forum

Anyway it's all just pure speculation if people would bash on 2k or not. All I can say it that I still prefer 2k8 despite its flaws to all the current-gen Madden games, because the fundamental gameplay is solid. If Madden starts dishing up with fundamentally sound gameplay I'd be extremely pleased and would be a lot more patient with EA.
