I always key on the Safties pre-snap. You can tell alot in Madden on where the safties line up and what is coming. One safety, probably cover 3, two safeties, probably cover two. If a safety is on a man, you've got cover 0, and if also spot a speed WR with a press cover corner over top, you've got a touchdown, however this will usually be accompanied by a blitz, so you've got to react fast if you see it.
