I just received my PS2 to PC USB controller adapter and it works fine. I would like to know if there is a way to figure what buttons are what other then by trial and error?

can't really help ya...I hear these are some issues with the adapter...i.e. buttons don't work..etc. FYI...try the new Logitech dual analog gamepad. Compusa threw it on the shelves this morning...looks exactly like a PS2 controller and apparently Madden 04 was developed with that pad in mind. -

It goes like this,
Square = 1
X = 2
Circle = 3
triangle = 4
Right (upper) trigger = 5
Right (lower) trigger = 8
Left (upper) trigger = 6
Left (lower) trigger = 7
Left analogue pressed = 9
Right analogue pressed = 10
Start = 11
I think that's the way the buttons go.

Remember, you can always configure your controller under "User Profile" then "Control Config".
It's a good thing I found this b/c I was gonna start another topic about Playmaker with a PS2 controller on a PC... Have you gotten it to work? I can't seem to activate playmaker with my right analog joystick and I've tried using every button to no avail. I'm basically looking to be able to switch which side my run will be... I think that will add much more offense.
Oh, and just FYI
Button 1 = Triangle
Button 2 = Circle
Button 3 = "X"
Button 4 = Square
Button 5 = L2
Button 6 = R2
Button 7 = L1
Button 8 = R1
Button 9 = Select
Button 10 = Start
