Is It Time To Bring Back "Jump The Snap"?

I'm right there with you. This sums of the subtext of what I'm getting at. I want my linemen, all of my defenders to play smart and have situational awareness. I want them to pin their ears back and explode off the ball in passing situations, but that's not what I see... unless I'm missing something. The best solution I have seen was some of the things that NCAA has gone with as far as the "keys" and the "gameplan" options that let you tweak how your players play certain situations.

I'm in favor of anything that makes Madden a more defensive game, or gives you incentive to care about your line, LBs, and DBs.

I agree with this completely. We need more controls besides the hit stick that make Defense fun to play.

Toward this end, I used to like the feature on old gen where you could guess run or pass at the start of the play (forgot what that feature was called). YOu could also remain neutral, but I liked the fact that in passing situations you could gear your team up for the pass like in real life. I think it was "pass/run commit".....I really like that.

How about instead of a gimmick, just give us responsive sliders to set pass rush pressure to our own personal preference?

I don't like that feature in NCAA because although tuned down now, it was yet another fascet that made the ratings less relevant. To beat a dead horse, the ratings should matter more. A dominant pass rusher should creat havoc in the backfield because they are rated highly, not because they jumped the snap.

New Rating-Instict...problem solved. This rating would allow elite level players to be even more aware of things like down and distance and act accordingly.



In all honesty, they just need to program the game in a way where if a defender is more finesse he TRIES to use those moves, and the same for power players. Hopefully "Dynamic" player whatever it is helps this out.

Though in the meantime if it can't, the NCAA approach to me is the next best thing.

They need to use the AWARENESS statistic properly. Instead of creating new ratings they should use the ones they have.
