Re: Ian Cummings Fairwell Tweet

I think it's clear that the suits have always had a roadmap laid out for Madden - and probably other sports franchises - many years ahead. And development has to sit within those parameters, ineviyably limiting scope for developers and designers to design the game that they might actually like to see. It was always the impression I got when I visited Tiburon. Those guys are supremely talented that I have no doubt they'd make the killer game if they were left to do it.

Good luck to Ian.

That lol tidbit of info he just gave is something they need to do more often. Now I can have one leg on fence and sit and wait to see whats in store now. It sounds more promising the way he put.

Re: Ian Cummings Fairwell Tweet

Even before this news broke, I was of the mindset that Madden 12 was going have to really impress me with the demo and with big news of offline franchise being revamped. If Madden 12's gameplay is a mere tweak here and there (now with better defensive line play!), then NCAA 12 will be my only football purchase this year.

It's not just the suits, count marketing in on it too.

This news is very sad for me. I'll miss Ian, and I'm sure the people who hated him will too. I wish Ian good luck to his other future endeavors.

In a lot of corporate cultures marketing falls within the "suit" category. I consider EA to be one of those corporate cultures.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Interesting, in this area suits are anyone wearing suits, Accountants and higher level management.

The marketing dept in the companies I worked for never put on a suit in-house unless they went to see a client or a client came to visit.

I agree, but the "suits" are the ones controlling marketing, they aren't different entities...
