Its the 3rd quarter????? I've nearly pulled off a comeback being down big like that before and its nearly happen to me because alot can still happen in that much time. I am showing class by just running the ball and punting or kicking FGs on 4th if he stops me from running the ball. Its not like I'm going to be going out there taking shots down the field or going for it on 4th or something if I'm up big like that in the 3rd. I've never played in online leagues before but if you can't call mercy or coincide there's no way I would stop playing my game in the 3rd quarter like that and stop running the ball and just basically quitting just because this guy can't stop me from running the ball and killing clock. I definitely wouldn't join no league that operates like that.. No way..

Teams don't do that and you should not require people to in a sim-style league.

Agreed....simply put: What do they do in the NFL? With a big lead they play conservatively (unless your Belichik and then you throw anyway) but they dont' "try not to score". If their back breaks a long run so be it. I thought online had an option to "concede the game"...maybe that was last year?

It still does but I don't know how these online leagues operate. If you could in online leagues I would gladly grant mercy to someone I'm punishing instead of being forced to play like that.

Good point. If I'm getting killed I'm HOPING the guy keeps throwing the ball so I can get a pick 6 or something. It feels more unsportsmanlike when the guy runs the play clock down and basically holds the ball to waist time....it's legal and realistic, I'm not complaining but I feel way more helpless with that then the guy who keeps chucking it. That said, Chucking the ball up with a big lead is running up the score. It just never bothered me.
In fact I find it kind of whiny when people complain about that. Just play baby! Smart football is trying to prevent mistakes when you are up big. If a guy is dopey enough to throw it so much it just gives me a chance. I don't really worry about anothers motivation for what they are doing. I myself choose to play smart but I don't care if I score in the process...too bad, tough luck...stop me next time.

I run the score up on bums until they plead for mercy.

Just a note, all my opinion on the leads are based off playing in an online franchise, ranked games are a different story.
