Do any of you guys know if this is a bug?

When a guy gets past me and I hit B to chase him down i start to backpeddle and the guy goes for 6 because my guy gets close and then turns away from him into a backpeddle!!!

let go of the R button

If you are holding the R trigger (on Xbox) you will "strafe", you are probably doing this or your controller is messed up.
