@ the OP, I think I understand what you are suggesting but I disagree somewhat. I don't think injuries should change a player's traits because that would negate the risk/reward of playing players while injured.

If Vick has a severe ankle sprain that is affecting his ACC, AGL and SPD, he should still be attempting to do the same things on the field but the injury would make it harder to execute, making him less effective.

The point of player traits is to have players attempt to perform a certain way on the field and that should hold true even when they are injured. Imagine the depth it would add if players could actually have multiple and lingering injuries, that carry over each year, that caused veteran players to be cut and/or retire because they can no longer effectively execute some signature traits.
They had this in NFL HC 09

EA had to be embarrassed by that video. They were talking about it in interviews with Jennings in the Super bowl; Jennings on George Lopez tongiht was asked about it, and fans were asking him about it on ESPN.

Maybe it's one of the reasons, along with 18% drop in sales, that EA seems to putting in so much more effort this year.
