Dropped pass animations

Does anybody think that madden should have animations for dropped passes rather than making it look like players are being hit with a paper ball?

I'm mostly referring to these madden 12 videos im seeing where defenders are constantly dropping interceptions (hate that madden does that btw, but whatever). If it has to happen as often as it does, maybe there should be animations where the defender almost catches it but doesn't quite hold onto it? Just a thought.

What, you don't like how the WR looks like he has stone hands? Yeah, it'd be nice to see some deflections off the hands. Then again, I'm also tired of watching the football get juggled by 5 different people as it floats through the air with the greatest of ease.

Also, there are way to many dropped interceptions among defenders. The average of dropped interceptions last season was 0.39 per game.

Me and you both. I just saw that in a chief chargers game clip. It looks very bad IMO and I think that animations could allow it to flow with the rest of the gameplay.

That's a mechanics issue. That's built into the game in order to compensate for some of the game shortcomings in the passing game. Consider the dropped INTs more of a true pass deflection. They need to correct some issues before they tune that. For example, WRs need better AI to battle for the ball when it's in the air, and linebackers need to be toned down from their super-human efforts while covering their zones.

Way too many. But, after all these years, I think madden is content with this method. There trying to avoid a game full of interceptions and this seems to be the tactic.

Re: Dropped pass animations

I made a thread just like this. Where the receiver will drop a pass but a completed pass animation will play with an invisible ball.

1st play - In madden, this would be an interception by Revis. But, since T.O. played the ball, it wasn't an interception. This is how you keep interceptions down in madden. Making a defender, no matter what the catch rating is, drop everything he touches, is not the correct solution.
