The state of the animation system is WAY beyond what speed you play the game on. It has MAJOR issues that only the type of complete retooling that they have applied to other areas, like blocking logic, can ever possibly fix.

Re: Madden 12 'Foot-Planting'

Doesnt seem to exist in the correct context during gameplay. Being able to weave back and forth with no loss of speed is a bit stupid to be honest. Sure you can plant and make one cut and not lose much if any speed but doing it over and over again with no lose of momentum or speed is way way off.

its strange..if u use the right analog stick than yea u will see foot planting..but y even bother u will just be at a disadvantage when u can just use the left analog stick plus the turbo button and u can slide and cut on a dime as much as u want too..

Re: Madden 12 'Foot-Planting'

The problem is all the left analog stick. Just moving a player up/down/left/right using the left stick you can see there's no foot-planting, but ice-skating. If EA could tighten this up before release that would be much appreciated.

I've heard about 50 different sources, telling me that 'foot-planting' is present in Madden 12, and another 50 telling me It's not. This might honestly might affect my decision to by the game, so I ask to you guys: is it in the game?
It is clear in the videos I have watched there is foot planting on HB running. Just like last year where you can just change direction outside and blow by defense.

There isn't any planting here:

Yeah, also it was a horrible tackle animation. There were three guys there, surely they could have easily kept him out.

A big issue with all these games is that the RB ability is always too high. Use versuz sliders when the game is released and it will look a lot more normal.

Re: Madden 12 'Foot-Planting'

First... Let's clear up the misinformation with facts about NG (360/PS3):

1) Field Degradation was added in Madden '08.

FACTS: The field would wear in areas that players actually ran. After a game or practice, players actually wear the grass to the dirt if they are in the same areas of the field. This system required massive amounts of processor resources to maintain field wear. Since there was no foot planting, field wear used player paths to determine which sections of the field were worn.

2) "Foot Planting" was added to Madden '09.

FACTS: Field wear was taken out of Madden '09 and replaced with a foot planting system that keeps track of where a players foot impacts the ground. The system was most evident in the snow or in the Virtual Trainer. Field textures required less resources because they weren't tracking field wear.

ASSUMPTION: That said, we can only assume that the foot planting of '09 was the building block for the devs to build in a less taxing platform to use for field degradation. I'm assuming that the detail portions of the game will be in the final version even if they aren't in the demos and alpha builds we saw at E3.
