Oh, no doubt.

Not sure who or where does the financials, EA Sports, EA Canada and Tibouron, but then is redistributed appropriately to Madden and NCAA. The financials need to be done somewhere, my bigger point was that the revenues are all shared under each separate roof, whether it's EA Canada's roof or Tibouron's roof.

Maybe I didn't make that clear enough before.

When you buy used, the company doesn't make any money off the game, the retailer does. A friend of mines works at gamestop and explained this to me when I asked him why gamestop trade-ins were always so low. He explained that retailers make hardly no money for games when they are bought new (similar to movie theaters). When bought used however, they get all of that money and the company (EA in this case) doesn't get anything, which is why they invented the online pass in the first place.

To put it into perspective, if EVERYBODY who's getting madden regardless on this site bought used instead of new, EA would've made just 1/6 of the profit it would've made had we all bought new. Everyone voting yes is helping my cause with this in mind.
Uhh, you are aware that EA put the online code you have to BUY IF USED in there? They get the $10 that you buy the code for.

You are right, used games go to the store, not EA, however, you are wrong on the part the $10 doesn't. EA (as well as others) started doing these codes to discourage the sell of USED games. And as stated before, that reason is because they do not see a dime of the money from used games.

So either way, you're gonna give EA money if you plan to go online (;

Re: No Online Franchise Additions- No $60! (Poll)

I will be renting this game. With the NFL lockout going on and the fact that online franchise mode wasn't even touched, it's turned me away from buying it. I will rent it, but that's about as far as I will go. My biggest complaint in OF is the lack of a salary cap for teams. Instead, Franchise owners have to come up with their own creative ways on how to sign free agents, and what not.

Well there you go. This poll just shows how overrated online gaming in Madden is. Not only do we not care about it but the numbers ea presented some time ago show that most people don't even bother trying the online modes. Thank god they finally realized this fact and turned their attention to offline franchise.

No one to play online franchise with. And when I did, it was kinda lame. Playing once every 4/5 days.

Then sometimes playing cpu. Setting up games with people. No shows. Time difference.

Re: No Online Franchise Additions- No $60! (Poll)

Coming from someone who played in an amazing OF league that often had 32 users the past 1.5 years (Madden 11 didn't last me all year like M10 did), I'm mostly okay with there not being any additions this year. There's plenty of ways to operate an OF with a custom-made salary cap and things like that.

It would have been nice to get things like an actual salary cap, draft scouting, a spectator mode, practice mode, and other things I'm probably forgetting but really it's about time offline guys got some damn love. Madden has almost always had an eye on online this entire gen of consoles while mostly neglecting offline players, but finally this year is the year they're getting what they've been asking for for years and it's been well overdue.

Also, last year this exact same thing happened to offline franchise and it ended up paying off because look at the offline franchise we're getting this year. I have faith online franchise will get that type of attention next year, but I know at this point before playing the demo that Madden 12 has my money, even without OF upgrades.

Re: No Online Franchise Additions- No $60! (Poll)

If online franchise doesn't matter much or at all, as posters have been saying (probably mostly pro-offline franchise players), then why does online franchise mean so much for NCAA gamers? If you build it, especially very well, [they] will come.
