Yea, it's usually the star veteran running back whose speed is sliding. He may still be very productive but I draft a lot of RBs and there's usually someone on the roster who is quicker and can take his place. Otherwise the salary cap just hasn't been tight enough for me to have to cut anyone particularly important.

Re: Ever cut a big name player?

I can't think of a name but in some rare occasions when i had cap issues I remember letting go a big name (and big salary to create room). I seem to remember cutting Eli Manning in a Giants Chise after I had drafted a can't miss QB prospect. I wasn't planning to start the rook right away but he had to due to cap issues.

This had long been a madden issue, one that I THINK they are addressing this year. To remedy this in the past I'd take a player's demands and sign him for 1-2 million a year more than he was asking. A pain but it helped to make the cap tighter. I did have issues with some teams, Vikes in particular, the off season of a chise...they have alot of older high price guys and some good young players who's contracts were up in the past.

Traded Peyton Manning for Colt McCoy, 3rd, and 4th round pick.
