For the most part, I play exclusively as a D-Lineman. DT on run downs and DE on passing downs. Occasionally, I switch and play a LB or Safety, usually in Goal-line situations.

Can't vote. I control all of the above...

I can't say I use any player's rarely except the outside corners... But I use them as well when I go zone against twin WR sets. And I switch defenders practically anytime the ball is thrown.

Gotta say I use em all But I play Superstar as a MLB or a HB.

I control none, just pick the play and do the pre play adjustments but after that i let the controller go.

I usually play with 3-4 defenses and end up using the the linebackers almost exclusively. Most of the time I control the weakest of my linebackers and let the CPU control my better players.

For instance, playing as the Cardinals last year, on passing plays Joey Porter would get beat 3 out of 5 times unless I took control of him. When I took control, I was able to stick with my man better... and then blow the play completely by either going for the pick instead of just swatting it away or by getting my guy completely turned around.

Whoever the best player on the D-line is. I occasionally control an OLB if there's a blitz.

I use the SS. I model my defensive style similar to Troy Polomalu. dropping in the box on occasion for run support or dropping to my zone.

It gives the D more flexibility. Imo

My first Madden was 08 and I almost exclusively only used the middle linebacker in 08 and 9.

Now I only control the DE or a blitzing OL because if I do it right I can disrupt both the run and the pass.
