Re: What is a good name for a Toronto team? (Franchise Relocation)

My wife once jokingly called the "Maple Leafs" the "Make Believes." When I asked why, she said "because they make-believe they have a chance at the cup."

So, there ya go.

Does anyone know if the name "Rush" is actually in the game? Or Renegades? OR does it say "Visiting team".

Is there a list somewhere?

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
The Argonauts (Greek: Αργοναύται, Argonautai; Georgian: არგონავტები, ArgonavTebi, (Laz language: Argonatepe)) were a band of heroes in Greek mythology who, in the years before the Trojan War, accompanied Jason to Colchis (modern day west of Georgia) in his quest to find the Golden Fleece. Their name comes from their ship, the Argo, which was named after its builder, Argus. "Argonauts", therefore, literally means "Argo sailors". They were sometimes called Minyans, after a prehistoric tribe of the area.
The Toronto Argonauts are the oldest sports franchise in North America.

I used to date a young lady from Toronto... But I don't think it's a good idea to post what I call her in the forums. Can't say it would be a great name for a football team either. LOL

How about just calling them the Toronto Blizzard.

Interesting... Football is my first love. My other love is fighter jets from the era of the CF-105. Since I'm an American, I don't expect to know the ins and outs of the Canadian Air Force, but I can't find any references to the CF-105 in either of my military aircraft encyclopedias which includes the CF-100 and CF-107.

On further research, I discovered that only 6 were made and other than the design, there wasn't much that was spectacular about the plane. I also discovered that all of them were dismantled completely EXCEPT for the cockpit and front fuselage section that is now in an aviation museum in Ontario.

That said... I'm not sure 'Arrows' is the type of image you want as your football team's mascot. It was PRETTY, but had no stamina, and only 5 of the 6 that were made ever left the ground. Maybe the band will have more football flare than the jet did.

I'm baised, but I still like "Blizzard" because 4 or the 5 times I visited Toronto there was snow on the ground.
