When constructing a 3-4 Defense, what do you need in this game?

Usually when I construct a defense in franchise, I just use a 4-3 and sign pass rushing DE's and runstopping DTs with coverage LBs.

But I've never really done a 3-4 defense before. What is really required to construct a good 3-4 team? Off the top of my head, I assume strong run stopping/clogging DT/DE's, and fast/athletic LBs? What ratings by those kinds of players translate to in Madden? For example, who is a good DT in Madden who is a 3-4 DT?

Madden still does not properly mirror a 34 defense, particularly up front with run fits and gap control. You could put Robert Mathis and Osi Umenyiora at DE in a 30 front and get the same results as true 30 front 5 technique DEs.

Ideally, you want strength/block shed/power moves to be high. So, the following are examples:

Casey Hampton
Shaun Rogers
Terrance Cody
Kelly Gregg
Aubrayo Franklin
Isacc Sopaoga
Kyle Williams
Vince Wilfork
BJ Raji

What you need:
Block Shedding

Seriously, thats all. Its the only important thing in this game if you run a 3-4. Its a thing of the past now though, IMO.

have you played Madden 12? I am not sure that's 100% accurate...

Other than the demo/season ticket, no. In the past, its been like this. Especially in M10. Since you have the game, perhaps you can give the OP some ideas.

TBH, I really haven't had the time to really pay a lot of attention. I have played a grand total of 5 games. I thought this was addressed or at least improved. I'll look tonight when I get some game time in.

From what ive seen, its better, not as good as id like, but better. Im getting too much pressure from my Dline in the 34.

And you shouldn't be. My pressure has been off the edges, and when I get inside pressure it's from bringing extra guys inside.

Occasionally my NT will destroy the center and get pressure up the middle.. I have sack from my DE but the QB had tried to move laterally ran in to my DE in what basically amounted to a coverage sack.

I think it's better than it's been. Is it ideal? I would say no, but everyone deploys that front differently than everyone else these days.
