During the first week of release:

I guess the demise of Madden and EA has to wait a little longer.

I wonder how many of those are modern casuals, and how many are hardcore fans returning to Madden.

I know a lot of people who came back to Madden this year. The bad thing is if the issues don't get patched right away, the core hardcore fanbase is going to get turned back off from the product. Casuals may not know the difference.

Yep it has to be casuals, and the sheer number of people who have been gone since M10 because they wanted Offline Franchise changes have returned. And they overlap the little number that left because of no changes to the Online Franchise because we have League Manager.

Casuals have always been there. And with Season Pass people had the chance to save money by playing it before release.

No way that some of you can say that Madden is not selling more this year because it is a better game then last year.

And that is just week one. We will see overall in a couple of months.

I think you're a smidgen confused. The "core fanbase" of Madden are the "casuals." Fans such as those of us on OS are in the minority. If the hardcore were Madden's core demographic, things would be quite different.

I fall into that category. The changes to franchise excited me. Too bad most of them seem to have been implemented rather poorly.

I haven't bought a Madden new in years. I think this was actually my first new Madden purchase on 360. I like it. Work around for the draft logic seems good, prolly start franchise when new rosters are out.
