Is there some trick to throwing on the run?

Every time I roll out of the pocket to throw a pass on the run the QB will actually stop his momentum, plant, then throw. This allows anyone chasing him to catch him rather easily, and there doesn't seem to be a way to properly throw on the run so that your momentum continues to carry you away from the pass rush.

Granted I've been passing from the pocket most of the time, but after I noticed this happening I went into practice mode with Vick and even he would stop his momentum completely before throwing.

Is there something I'm missing or is that just the way it is?

There are two things that i can think of that cause your QB to plant and slow down. First is rolling away from his throwing arm. Most QBs are right handed so rolling out to the right is fine but if you roll to the left he has to turn his body in order to throw the right direction. Next is if the pass is deep enough then the QB has to step into the throw to get enough power. This can really look odd and mess up the play.

If it isn't one of those things then I'm not sure what is causing your issue

I have the same problem. Even when rolling out throwing arm side and not throwing deep.

I've been sacked way too many times trying to throw the ball away. There is no way that should happen. The throw away animation should be way faster. I mean, I'm already giving up on the play, why is EA punishing me extra with a sack?

Yeah it looks like the issue with the ball bein stuck to the qb's hand is back this year.

But if your qb has a low throw on the run rating that could be the issue too

Yes the trick is have a good rating throwing on the run and never throw across you body if you dont know what that mean is you throw with you right arm throw the ball running to the right

I wish that rating was the issue, however, I find that rating only affects the accuracy of the throws made while on the run. No matter which QB I've used, from Vick to Freeman to Manning, I get stuck in the same animation when I try to get rid of the ball as I'm running to the sidelines, and the defense catches up to sack me. It's pretty brutal.

Yep. Every QB suddenly has Tebow-itis and takes FOREVER to throw the ball. Kills me....
