It just happened to me against Ryan Grant. A 12yd reception added it to his rushing stats, and not receiving. Is this the rule in the nfl or a glitch?

If he was behind LOS and behind your QB then it is NFL rule... as that would be a backward pass (even though you called a receiving play). If it was a legit forward pass then it's a glitch.

I've noticed though that you can throw a backwards pass and it counts both ways. Not sure about receiving stats, but I've had my QB be 6/5 in last years game because he through a backwards pass (extra long pitch I guess).

It didn't do that, cuz Rodgers still had the same stats. Grant's rushing stats went up only. Still confused if it's the NFL rule or not...oh well lol

it is. any backwards pass received behind the line of scrimmage is a rush.

Correct it is also counted as a completed pass for the qb.

Ok cool...but it does not count for passing yards correct? Only rushing yards and a completed pass...?

Correct. I believe screen passes are the same. Rushing yards for the recipient and a completed pass for the qb.
