Progression in Franchise

Does the progression of your players in franchise mode depend on performance or is there like a pre-set amount as to how much they get better or worse?

Both seem to effect progression. A player with A potential who is lower rated will progress pretty well regardless but potential is also a cap. A guy with C potential who is a 79 overall will not progress even if he has record setting years. I haven't tested this as much as previous years but there does not seem to be a big change from recent years.

It's a nice balance so you don't pad stats just to get progression. Also guys can develope without playing time

The stats portion of progression (and regression for older players) is based on how they perform vs. other players in their age group. So you don't necessarily need to lead the league as a rookie to get max progression, you just need to be the best rookie/young player.

Similarly, if you have a player like Ed Reed or Champ Bailey he will need to put up great numbers to avoid losing rating because they are both in their mid 30s, but only vs other players in their mid 30s.
