Re: What player on defense do you control
I control every player on defense... Indirectly and directly. I decide pre-snap which player I'm going to control based on my opponent's formation, personnel, tendencies, my alignment, my play, my personnel.
In essence, I control them ALL.
Against guys that run to the outside, I'm usually the OLB, FS, MLB, or SS.
Against guys that run inside, I'm usually the MLB, OLB, DT.
Against guys that throw short passes, I'm usually the MLB, OLB, or RE, LE.
Against guys that run misdirection and play action middle I'm usually the MLB, SS, FS, or OLB
Against guys that use tight formations I'm usually the RE, LE, RCB, LCB, FS, SS
Against guys that use Trips formations I'm usually the MLB, SS, Nickel DB, Dime DB, RE, LE
At the Goal Line I'm the NT.
The key to playing defense is knowing the assignment of the player you're controlling intimately and being able to actually perform those duties. The more positions you can play, the more dynamic you can become.
I like to target people who play the same position alot. If you're on the line, I'm running at you. If you're in the secondary, I'm throwing at you. Just to see if they can perform their responsibilities. If not, I look to expose you the entire game.
Meanwhile, I move around making my own user skill weaknesses to be easier to hide.
