I do fairly well offensively, however I struggle on defense. Which player do you tend to user control? I'm trying to get good at controlling the MLB, but I seem to overrun plays and the HB just blows by me a lot....

I always have, since the beginning of Madden for me on the Sega Genesis, controlled the RDE. I never deviated away from that strategy.

Well there's two things, I am BEST at controlling one of the Safetys. But I don't really control any of them. Usually on my laptop or phone while playing defense.

before the Snap: Wherever i think the play will be made. I'll cover, blitz, contain w/ any position on the field

after the snap: Wherever the play needs to be made. I'll switch and swat, intercept, big hit, tackle, contain, etc.

RE or LE.

But I switch it up to a safety if I'm not having success. Or if I have a great DT I'll play with them.

in every madden i use almost exclusivly a D-lineman. this year im using the DT almost all the time since power moves pretty much dominate, but in previous maddens when finesse moves worked good i was almost always a RE. i use a LB or S if they blitz, but im terrible at coverage so i don't even try. oh and like after a catch or something i switch to the closest player to make the tackle

I always use the worse of the two MLBs...no need to dumb down my defense by using the best defensive player and not doing well with him.

I tried controlling MLB , but when you are using such teams as 49ers and you are controlling P.Willis it gets way to easy. After i figured that out i started using 1# most of the time , somtimes 2# corner and it works pretty well, if i do mistakes im burned all the time and thats what i like .
