How much bigger than other sports games is Madden? In terms of sales...etc

Not really from what I see, the biggest RPG sellers are around Madden sales - FF13 is around 5-6m last I checked - so not up to FIFA. Really the truly big sellers are the family games - Pokemon has some of the biggest in the 10-15m range, Mario Kart Wii 28.23m, and a variety of games like that.

Then there are the "biggest" of the niche leaders like Grand Turismo or Grand theft Auto that sell the most in their genre (alot like Madden) which usually ends up around 4-7m.

A few really big titles sell really well for awhile - Call of Duty is in the 12m range - but that usually settles down after a few sequels.

GTA sold over 3 million copies the first day of its release. I am pretty sure that it has sold over 20 million copies, not 4-7M.

But to the point of RPGs, they are not the main purchases of console systems and to suggest that "way more systems are sold based on RPG's" is completely incorrect. The PC is the king of RPGs. If you want to play rpg's you need a gaming PC

Yea you are correct, I was talking about games that were per system and wasn't clear at all - but obvious GTA is way bigger than that lol (22m as of Sept 2011) so good call .
