I'm usually the first to shy away from this kind of talk, but not with Rodgers. Your post is actually dead on, whether some people like it or not. I am a football junkie, played my whole life, and spend 90% of my free time watching it. I also enjoy the advantage of never having a favorite team that I root for, so when I say I really don't have a dog in this fight, I mean it. Like you said, the rest of his career obviously needs to play out before we start claiming GOAT, but one thing I am ready to say, and have been saying since his playoff run last year, is that I honestly think he has the greatest skill set at QB of all-time. The man is literally Steve Young with Dan Marino's arm. Strong hyperbole? Hardly. Before Rodgers, Marino was the greatest pure passer ever by a long shot. I really never thought I'd see anyone throw like him. Then came along Rodgers. The combination of his arm strength (which some people still underrate, you said he was top 2-3, but of all the top 15 QB's in the league he's got the strongest arm without question), accuracy (which really is second to none), and release, him and Marino are 1A and 1B as the greatest pure passers of all-time. And I'm not even sure which is which. Then you throw in his legs (another thing people
still underrate, I can't think of anyone else who was ever better at buying themselves more time inside the pocket), and it's kind of a no-brainer that the guy is playing the position like no else ever has. I've always held that Marino was the GOAT because if you give him and Montana the exact same teammates on any given day, Marino was capable of making more plays. But I swear, it's almost unreal watching Rodgers. I think Trent Dilfer put it perfectly after the Atlanta game. "He is literally unstoppable." I also find it ironic that with all the hype and what not surrounding the coveted "Madden Cover OMG", it's possible people would have looked back 10 years from now and used his appearance on the cover as the time-table for when he went on a historic run. Hell, maybe it would have been the turning point for the Madden cover itself, when it finally became something of substance and a cool part of our culture again. But what did we get instead? Not surprisingly a lame *** marketing gimmick in which we wound up with Peyton freakin Hillis. I actually used to look forward to the Madden cover. Now it's just another thing that sucks about Madden.
Like I said, I really have no dog in this fight, so believe me when I tell you this is pure ignorance from a Lion fan who has a dog in the fight
People always use this against him, but if you really watch the games, you can see it's Rodgers that is making them GREAT. The passing attack as a whole is GREAT. Rodgers on his own is GREAT. Those receivers on their own are just very good. They don't have anybody who will single-handedly dominate a game. The best part about them is their depth. For instance, Rodgers completed passes to 6 different receivers this Sunday, ON THE FIRST DRIVE. They are good, make no doubt about it, but they have a guy who is capable of getting it to any one of them on every single play, and he's making them look better than they are.
