I disagree.
I don't see any stuff like with my All-Madden sliders. I've stopped the AI without user controlling defenders in those situations.
When I think the AI is going into that mode, especially passing (usually it's passing), I go into a defense that's pass defense but still reasonable against the run (to contain draws and stuff). Then I use the "basic" audibles (man/blitz/zone) to shift - but usually I try to stay with a defense that can handle most - like 2 Man Under and put the LBs in zone pre-snap to cover the middle areas in case the AI checks down.
This also allows me to got with something like 3-3-5, Base Nickle, or Nickle Strong - which can hold their own against the run, instead of something like Dime, which leaves just 5 in the box. 3 man CBs, 2 deep safeties, and 2 or 3 LBs in zone in the middle (I'll spread them too) that's a pretty decent, well-rounded defense for these situations, imo.
And if my DL can get after the QB, that will slow it down. I'll also call blitz if I'm not getting pressure or they are looking deep, or do the same defensive audible LBs into zone, but then audible Sam and Will to blitz. Since I always always always believe in a top flight MLB, he can handle it and it let's my OLBs go after the QB and if my DEs are active/having a good day, it can create some nice edge pressure. Sometimes I'll get a sack or a hurried throw. Even an INT as the QB forces a check down and my MLB is there or throws one into coverage downfield.
If it comes to it, I'll call time out if my guys are just totally confused and I can't pull them together on the fly. I used to hate doing it, then I heard in a game where a defense did this "to catch their breath and get reorganized" so it seemed less horrible. Plus, I'd rather spend a timeout to get some new personnel out there and sub packages for fatigue considerations.
I do agree some with keeping the AI sliders close to the user sliders on All-Madden, but that could just be me not being good enough.
