Free agents running low

So im in season 4 and am using 32 team
control.. I cut the UDFA's before the season and let the cpu sign there FA's.

In week 4 there are 3 Qb's, 4 Hb's, 0fb, 12 wr, 2 te, no olinemen, 3 le, 4 re, 0 dt, 0 lb,9 cb, 0 s.

Is this normal or should i start keeping some UDFA?

probably keep UDFA's. but i want to know, what do you have against udfas? i notice people seem to think you have to cut all of them to have a realistic franchise

Yep. The only time I cut a bunch of them in 32 team control was year one.

In year three now and I have a decent and realistic FA pool despite not cutting UFDA's for all 32 teams.

What I do now is a simple scrub on the last week of the pre-season and see if any need to be cut that could cause a potential issue for a cpu team to cut a much better veteran option. I have maybe had to cut half a dozen in year 2 and the same amount in year 3's pre-season.

I felt and still feel it was an overblown issue. All depends on your "vision" of your virtual franchise. It is a personal opinion. But certainly not a game breaker for a majority of Madden offline franchise players.

They aren't real players, that's what most people have a problem with. People don't want fake players in the game, period.

Re: Free agents running low

I was just afraid that if i didnt my league would become filled with 90 UDFA's at every position and that the cpu would cut its draft picks instead of the UDFA's. Ill just start cutting all F player potentials once pre season week 4 comes around

Not if you are using Imported Draft Classes from NCAA

I've found that you can't cut them all or there's two repercussions:

1) Depleted FA list

2) Cap Hell (usually only one or two teams)

I think that you can still cut the majority of them, but when you get the "cutting so and so will result in team x not having enough position x" comment, you should allow them to stay and compete for a roster filler slot...

I'm going to try keeping 3-5 UFDA's on every CPU roster and let the chips fall where they may...

If any of them turn out to be starting QBs or HBs though, I just may go in and edit them down after the fact...

In an early test 'chise, I let the UDFA play out and SD ended up with a road kill QB starting ahead of Rivers...

NOT happening, in my franchise...
