i want to be a better player, will the strat guide help or what?

Not really. It will give you a brief outline on each team, and a few good plays to run with them. But the book is mainly concerned with stats, and really won't give you the strategy to make you much better.

I highly recommend the Virtual Playbook for Madden 2004. VG does excellent work, and while I have not read this one I did really get a lot out of their NCAA 2004 and NFL 2K3 guides.
