Roster's Numbers MIN for maddens going forward should be
1 QB 2 Min -
2 RB 3 Min - FB could be replace by a extra TE or RB
3 WR 4 Min
4 TE 3 Min - To make up for the No fullback on some teams
5 OL'S 8 Min - No Team Carries 10 anymore so it should go like this 3 T'S 3 G'S
2 C'S U had this in Madden 2003

6 DE 4 Min
7 DT 2 Min 3-4 Teams does not carry 3 DT'S Most of the time
8 OLB 4 Min - For 3-4 Teams 5 OLB If they carry under 3 DT'S
9 MLB 2 Min
10 CB 4 Min
11 S' 4 Min - U Can Carry 1 FS as long as u carry 3 SS and vice versa or 2 FS SS

1 K and 1 P

Your ILB/MLB would be too few for a 3-4 defense as it would not allow for a back up in case of in injury I think it would be a smart idea to just have specific roster minimums for schemes ideally a 4-3 defense would have different minimums then a 3-4

To answer the question, I think I heard in some podcast the the roster minimums are in M13 but I am not sure how they are allocated. I 100% agree with the above poster that going forward, having roster minimums linked to the schemes and playbooks chosen in the offseason is the best way going forward.

That's just my I example. If u want to carry 3 C and only 2 G I should be able to. Same with every other position.

Oh no. I hadn't thought of this yet. Without the ability to edit players, maddens ridiculous position minimums will surely cause problems. I bet this turns out to be one of our biggest headaches with connected careers mode.

If the roster minimums are as follows in M13;

QB-2 DE-4
HB-3 DT-3
FB-1 OLB-4
WR-4 MLB-2
TE-2 CB-4
T -4 FS-2
G -4 SS-2
C -2 K-1
P-1

That adds up to 45 required players, leaving 10 open spots for unique allocation for each team. The last offline franchise mode I played was M11, so can someone articulate the potential issue they foresee this causing. I have read some mention the DE position being an issue for 3-4 teams but how so when there are 3-4 DEs and a 3-4 team can along with targeting 3-4 OLBs/MLBs wil have 10 extra spots to allocate as they see fit.

I think what maybe be getting overlooked is the fact that within those minimum requirements, each team will be selecting the players that best fit their scheme and philosophy.

Hopefully they are customizable just like in Head Coach 09, Almost everything else in this mode is straight out of Head Coach 09 so i wouldnt doubt that that is how it is. If so this will help balance not being able to edit players positions.

Why not break it down to generalities?

qbs, rbs, receivers, oline, dline, linebackers, and secondary and let the user decide what he wants to allocate to each position. For example just have 8 minimum oline and let the user decide that if he wants 4 center, 2 guards, and 2 tackles, he can. Also give some players 2 positions and one roster spot like Jacob Tamme. He can count for a rb and a receiver.

The depth chart should dictate the roster not the other way around. As long as I can fill in my depth chart it should be good to go. If I don't want any safeties, I should be able to plug in any guy to fill that roll. As long as there is somebody there to play the position.
