Nelson is a ballhawk that does well in zone coverage and Mays is one of the top players to manually control in Madden due to his combination of speed and hit power. Teams like the Eagles, Jets, and Ravens will have elite OVR defensive ratings in Madden, but for gameplay purposes I give the Bengals a slight nod.

And you didn't even mention George Iloka, 6'4" rookie S with speed.

he might not be that fast. I say they probably give him 86-88 speed if that.

hatcher is actually pretty good on my team. The fastest guy on the D-line with the best finest moves.

Im looking forward to see crawford and wilber ratings. sometimes I like to sub spencer in at the other DE position opposite of hatcher. He has good strength and even better speed to get after the QB or blow up run plays. Ill sub butler or wilber in spencers spot who ever is faster and better at getting off blocks.

the raiders would have the best defense in madden. the bengals would also have a solid defense in madden 13 because taylor mays is just flat out nasty in the hands of someone with stick skill. these is how to jurge a good the in madden.
1. cb with high speed
2.safety with high speed and high jump rating.
the raiders have these two key element.

good lb and de dont make up good defense in madden. lb and de play is terrible that is why i would pick the raiders d and over any d in madden.

This is probably true given that he ran a pretty poor forty at 4.66, with a low of 4.52. Unfortunately that doesn't represent the speed he's capable of on the field, but that's how those things can go.

My vote is for the 49ers. I can't think of anyone else atm that can unthrone them, unless the Steelers can keep there consistant defensive streak going.

I don't think the 49ers will be the best to use mainly because their strength is in the front 7 and it's pretty easy to be productive in that aspect with most front sevens it seems in Madden
