What happens with sliders in hum vs hum?

I have been adjusting sliders in the madden 13 demo to get a head start for a league I am running this year. I use a base set that is basically in between an all pro and all madden set. My question is what happens if I dumb down the player sliders and I have to play against another human? Am I playing against the CPU sliders or are we both playing against each others dumbed down " player" sliders. If that's the case this could be a potential problem for the difficulty level when playing another human.
