Confused. What does the Production rating do?

I have tried several searches and I can't get a grasp as to what the Production rating represents and how is affects gameplay or progression. Does it change over time?

Anyone have some answers?

From what I've heard it goes off how well a player fits into the team's system and how well they perform on the field. So like the Baltimore Ravens prefer strong arm QBs and if Joe Flacco puts up impressive numbers one week he'll have a high production rating.

So it can fluctuate?

What does it do to benefit the player? Seems kind of unnecessary.

This is just a guess but it seems like a way to add stats into the formula for overall. Again I'm assuming size is the same thing

Yea I think that is exactly what it does.

Great idea but I think its poorly implemented for now.

For one, its based on career stats so a guy who has been great for most of his career and had 2 years of non production will have a good production rating and get an added bonus to his OVR (which doesnt mean anything for the user but the AI values it so it will see that player as a favorable guy as a starter despite not really putting up any numbers for the last 2 seasons.)

Awesome! Where did you find that? Is it referred to in the game materials?
