Is it even worth starting a CCM with the known issues?

NOT WORTH IT. Was trying so hard to love this mode, even with all the problems. Playing as a coach online and ran into another huge problem. Injuries happened throughout the preseason. Arian Foster was lost for the entire year and it was all over the twitter feed and sure enough when the reg season started there was no more injured players on any teams including Foster. Not buying the retail version. Cant wait for NHL 13.. 2 more weeks

I recommend going for the legend players in UT if some are available through challenges etc, and then once you do that, hopefully they will have fixed CCM.

if they don't, it will break the heart of so many of us that lovvvvved and still love, head coach 09 after the patch that fixed some if the "game breaking" issues
