Also, what we have to realize is, the overwhelming majority of the people that play Madden, don't see the issues we see, because they are buying the game with the intent to enjoy it, and not to find fault or room for improvement
as you see here with the statistics i've provided:

Madden 2001-3.81=1.67(PS1)+1.50(PS2)+0.64(N64)

Madden 2002-6.41=3.08(PS2)+1.39(PS1)+.61(GC)+.58(XB)+.43(N64)+ .32(GBA)

Madden 2003-5.89=4.14(PS2)+.71(XB)+.61(GBA)+.43(GC)

Madden 2004-7.15=5.23(PS2)+1.09(XB)+.51(GC)+.31(GBA)

Madden 2005-7.59=4.53(PS2)+1.72(XB)+.70(GC)+.39(GBA)+.25(DS)

Madden 2006-9.03=4.91(PS2)+1.86(XB)+.75(PSP)+.58(360)+.57(GC)+ .23(GBA)+.12(D S)

Madden 2007-9.99=4.49(PS2)+1.77(360)+1.02(XB)+.83(PSP)+.62(GC) +.53(WII)+.50( PS3)+.21(DS)+.03(GBA)

Madden 2008-8.02=2.57(PS2)+2.34(360)+.94(PS3)+.86(WII)+.70(PSP )+.29(XB)+.25( DS)+.08(GC)

Madden 2009-7.77=2.47(360)+1.83(PS3)+1.49(PS2)+.81(WII)+.69(PS P)+.31(DS)+.18 (XB)

Madden 2010-7.39=2.77(360)+2.30(PS3)+.98(PS2)+.70(WII)+.64(PSP )

Madden 2011-6.35=2.59(360)+2.24(PS3)+.68(WII)+.50(PS2)+.34(PSP )

Madden 2012-4.64=2.30(360)+1.83(PS3)+.35(WII)+.17(PSP)

Having the NFL License after the blowup year 2k was having, people were forced to buy Madden for the next few years as the sales suggested. It was booming. But somewhere along the line, EA/Tiburon got lazy, rehashing the same engine, same elements of the game, including little gimmicks here and there.

But also the inability to put out a patch to fix bugs, glitches and other omissions turned the fans off within time as the stats show. EA loves no competition, but do they really love it? I'm sure a majority of fans hate it.

In conclusion, although no competition may be somewhat profitable, it wasn't nearly as profitable when they had competition. I highly doubt EA waste millions again to lock up an NFL License and i'm sure other companies took note of this too. That was the biggest mistake EA made and one that the NFL will never have again.

It was a big marketing scheme for the NFL favorable to them, but not EA

Bout' right?
I just wish EA and 2K could both make football games. I just don't understand why.

The same reason there isn't free HealthCare.

I get what you're saying but you'd think eventually we'll have the choice to choose between 2k and Madden. I love both and think it'd be great for both sides.

but this is more the case

"Some industry insiders speculate the exclusive deal was embraced by the NFL after it saw Take-Two lower the price of its 2K5 product earlier this year. No licensor likes to see a price war being fought with its brand value at stake"
