I hate having to use the direction pad, too much trouble. Who thought of that crap anyways?

Yes.Turn on "strategy pad quick llinks" under your settings

I hate it too but I'm just trying to learn it anyways.Have you looked under the game controls menu to see if you can change it there? Thats my only suggestion.
