Unfortunately I do not have an answer for you. One thing I've seen is that the CPU uses the XP to progress its players according to their schemes. I do not know how you change 3-4 playbook, to a 4-3 playbook, on your defensive scheme, as currently the schemes for the teams are set in stone (unless you mean the play style changes to roles).

Re: Development Trait, and how it works, quick analysis!

Thank you for clarifying that! don't wanna get the wrong impression or spread wrong info. It would be really nice/helpful if when you did autoprogress of a player it showed a popup listing exactly what attributes/packages got picked.

I was hoping things worked the way I theorized but guess not. Theres so much info in this thread I am starting to forget it all already lol so for someone who plays every game and doesn't sim what impact does changing the player types in Coaching scheme mean for the USER team? I see it has a big impact for CPU teams with regards to drafting and trading but not sure if it affects us at all even though we are able to change them

Re: Development Trait, and how it works, quick analysis!

From what I've seen...simming roughly 10 seasons and progressing players weekly.. (I DONT PRACTICE..AT ALL) So my knowledge is limited by that.

The 50k xp only pays off if said player is in a "stat position"..or a position that allows the player to reach/achieve their goals.

For example..I made my rookie QB my started and after his first year increased his development rating from quick to superstar. I've seen minimal gains each year (he performs consistently stat wise) and went from roughly 50k xp first year to 55-60k xp each year after. (Second year we won SB though..so may have some inconsistencies)

When it comes to other positions though..From what the OP stated and from personal experience I wouldn't increase the rating for players that aren't able to produce on the field for whatever reason.

I personally undervalue the trait. I like to see results year one. It seems that the trait doesn't pay off until at least years 4-5. After that the gains seem to be minimal due to scaling with age. (older players get less xp..need more xp...) Currently (I may be wrong..) but I've found it to not be worth taking due to the short term handicaps (player would gain more xp first year if player had used the xp...player would also gain more next year if didnt buy trait..though may even out)

Based on speculation..and simmed seasons.

From what I read ont his post though it seems you might have run in the problem due to the fact you created a rookie QB. Rookies get a hug exp boost and even sometimes in yr 2. I think from what i gather as your player ages the XP goes down but there is a huge drop off from rookie status....by purchasing the XP you negated that drop off in year two so even though it didn't look like you gained much more then year one your net XP in yr 2 by having the package was actually alot (I think 33%). Basically it should start paying dividens in yr 3 and a ton the longer you keep and use the player. I am not 100% sure so maybe someone who knows can verify what i am saying. I think a good experiment would be increasing the XP with say a mid 20's QB and see how that compares to the one you did with your rookie QB

Your coach may have 3 weeklies that asks for 250 passing, 2 passing td's and 3 turnovers, but if you also throw, say 3 passing TD's to your receiver, any other receiver that had the same goal for that week and has at least participated 1/3 of the game, he will receive that XP.
can you clear this up for me i dont understand

so say my 5 wr all have the goal 1 td if i throw a td to 1 guy they all get that weekly goal?

I think they do which they should since their meeting their goals. Everybody has a set of goals/milestones they need to capture.

I think his point is if WR#1, WR#2 and WR#3 all have the same personal goal of catching a TD for the week and WR#! catches a TD and the otehrs don;t then why would WR#@ and WR#3 get the bonus xp

I think what he was saying is that if all of your receivers have the goal of one TD and one of them does get 1 TD then any receiver with that goal that player 33% of the game will get the XP from that goal. That was my understanding, I may be wrong however.
