Any tips to stop dropping passes without touching sliders?

I know you can tap Y to secure the catch, but I really don't believe this has much affect on All-Madden. You shouldn't have to adjust the sliders to make a player with 90+ catch rating catch a wide open pass. This is a huge bug that EA must fix and adjust. I can't believe their isn't a sticky on this. Am I doing something wrong? What's the trick to simply catch passes consistently. An NFL team doesnt drop 5 wide open passes!!! I also know that holding Y when u are a receiver helps but you can't always switch to the receiver on slants and stop routes. Here are pics to prove it with elite receivers.

Caca happens, try throwing them some short bunny passes after some drops to get them going, that usually works.
