I'm not really convinced scheme matters that much after playing for a few seasons. It seems like I can get a better picture of how a player is going to fit into my specific offense by looking at ratings than by looking at overall and scheme.

It's not a bad thing about the game; quite the opposite. There are enough ratings on a player where different guys fit very differently, and theres always the idea of moulding your play calling to your players to a degree instead of vice versa. I drafted a QB with a speed and accel in the 90s and suddenly started calling plays that let the QB scramble. When my speedy but not strong RB is in the game I call more draws and stretch plays. Now the RBs overall is low because my offense 'wants' a power back, but he's still very valuable to me because there are situations where he does me a lot of good.

If your playing offline like I am, I Fo t scout at all. At draft time I fast forward to next season and go and check out the rookies see their ratings and were they we're drafted and then I reload and get the guys I want.

There is. I just log out then back in. Takes about the same time.
